Patient communication is an important aspect of healthcare facilities aimed at establishing patient-centered care and at the center of effective service planning stands a patient counselor. Understanding and addressing patients’ concerns and guiding them throughout the treatment are an essential component of providing care. The CBA rubrics is aimed at helping the hospitals to assess the competency of the counselors, help them identify training needs, and guide them with recruitment and professional development.

We are pleased to launch the Competency-Based Assessment Rubrics at KLSM Rotary Eye & ENT Hospital, on World Sight Day. A CBA strengthens the patient counseling ecosystem of a healthcare facility. Incorporating it is beneficial to the patient as well as the eye care service provider as it aims at advancing the culture of patient-centered care while enabling the latter to refine themselves as a provider of care.

To strengthen the patient communication ecosystem, Orbis has been constantly fostering engagement with its partners. This has been achieved through a series of comprehensive initiatives, including webinars, knowledge sharing sessions, and two Regional Training Centers for Patient Communication.
