JOB SUMMARY

As the Communications Manager at Orbis India, you'll spearhead strategic communication efforts, overseeing brand identity, PR, and digital channels. Your role involves generating public awareness, collaborating with PR agencies, and ensuring accurate and compelling content. Internally, you'll foster collaboration, contribute to global meetings, and lead team performance. Representing Orbis at national and international forums, your impact extends to publications and vendor relationships.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for Orbis India, encompassing PR, Offline, and Online channels.
  • Oversee the execution of the communications strategy and plan to maintain a consistent and positive brand profile.
  • Enhance brand awareness and recognition through effective management of Orbis India's visual identity.
  • Manage the organization's website, including content ideation and development.
  • Analyze social media insights to enhance Orbis India's digital presence.
  • Plan and produce impactful publicity and promotional materials.
  • Oversee and support the production of a quarterly newsletter.
  • Generate widespread public awareness around Orbis programs, initiatives, events, and donor contributions.
  • Collaborate with PR agencies/consultants to secure and expand media coverage.
  • Create editorials and articles to communicate program initiatives effectively.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of all communications materials in alignment with Orbis brand guidelines.
  • Develop and execute evidence-based communication programs and campaigns.
  • Support the production of compelling case stories, audio/visual materials, and training resources.
  • Identify and commission research studies to inform communication strategies.
  • Provide capacity-building support to partners for effective communication.
  • Liaise with international colleagues for scoping visits, event planning, and execution within the India program portfolio.
  • Develop quarterly metrics reports for media and online activity to share with Orbis International HQ.
  • Participate in global meetings and contribute to the organization of Orbis India events.
  • Contribute to team and organizational learning, sharing knowledge, tools, and expertise.
  • Provide opportunities for professional development to enhance individual and team capacity.
  • Represent Orbis at national and international forums, conferences, and meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of guidelines, manuals, and publications.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of high-quality work outputs.
  • Identify relevant vendors/consultants and manage relationships for efficient delivery of communication solutions.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Communications Manager reports to Country Director and collaborate internally for seamless partner communication, program support, and efficient reporting. Engage with finance for vendor coordination and budget analysis. Operate at the nexus of operations and communication, contributing to logistical support. Internationally, actively participate in global communication activities with the global communications team. Externally, liaise with communication agencies for projects, and foster partnerships with vendors and donors for brand recognition and relationship-building. Manage relationships with external vendors for various assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Post-graduate degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic communications, with a focus on brand management and digital communications. With at least 3 years of experience in a nonprofit sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in strategic planning and execution of PR, Offline, and Online communication channels.
  • Strong experience in website management, content ideation, and development.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media analytics to enhance digital presence.
  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills for creating impactful content.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee production of various communication materials.
  • Experience in collaborating with PR agencies to secure media coverage.
  • Capacity to develop and execute evidence-based communication programs and campaigns.
  • Strong project management skills, ensuring timely completion of high-quality outputs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to liaise with international colleagues and external partners.
  • Proven ability to contribute to team learning, providing opportunities for professional development.
  • Effective representation skills at national and international forums, conferences, and meetings.
  • Graphic design proficiency.
  • Knowledge of audio/visual production.
  • Familiarity with research study commissioning.
