The Associate Director - Programs reports directly to the Country Director. They collaborate closely with the program department and liaise with colleagues in the Development, Finance, Communications, Monitoring & Evaluation and Operation departments.

Project Orbis International Inc., India Country Office (Orbis) is seeking applications for the role of Associate Director-Programs.

JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the program team, the Associate Director - Programs will manage implementation of the program component and provide effective support to the program portfolio. He is expected to work towards increasing departmental efficiency through the development and maintenance of management systems. He is also expected to focus on the implementation of Orbis' projects in India, Nepal and Indonesia.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Associate Director - Programs reports directly to the Country Director. They collaborate closely with the program department and liaise with colleagues in the Development, Finance, Communications, Monitoring & Evaluation and Operation departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • To continuously uphold and live the values of Orbis – Commitment, Caring, Accountability, Trust and Excellence.
  • Supervise program team to ensure smooth implementation and management of projects in India, Nepal and Indonesia; achieving deliverables on time with appropriate budget utilization.
  • Support Country Director in developing road map for strategic growth of program portfolio in India, Nepal and Indonesia.
  • Lead program team in expanding the program portfolio by developing high quality innovative proposals in line with organizational priorities and processes.
  • Ensure timely implementation of planned project reviews and evaluations, and ensure any learning is incorporated in all future program/project design.
  • Lead the development of new partnerships and support effective management of existing and past partnerships in India, Nepal and Indonesia.
  • Ensure timely submission of various reports and updates with utmost quality to Orbis HQ including donor reports/updates.
  • Support Orbis development offices in managing donor relationships by providing necessary and relevant information about various projects from time to time and facilitating donor visits to project sites.
  • Lead planning and implementation of training & development activities for program team to build a high-performing team that will contribute meaningfully in achieving Orbis’ goals and objectives.
  • Promote and share Orbis’ achievements and learning at relevant professional forums nationally and internationally.
  • Support expansion of research portfolio in India, Nepal and Indonesia.
  • Support Finance team to develop the country level budget and ensure efficient utilization including timely and accurate reporting to HQ, donors and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide support towards developing and managing program communication initiatives in India, Nepal and Indonesia.
  • Lead program technology initiatives in assessing and translating unmet needs into next-generation integrated healthcare technology tools consistent with Orbis’ mission, vision, and business objectives.
  • As a key member of the global program team, provide inputs and support program activities across other country offices.
  • In collaboration with the global Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team, support development of appropriate M&E mechanisms to improve effectiveness of program implementation. Ensure the adoption of these M&E mechanisms and provide feedback for further improvement.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Country Director.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or equivalent educational qualifications with at least 10 years of work experience in eye care organization and 05 years in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Prior experience of working in an international not-for-profit environment is a plus.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Good communication skills with excellent verbal and written English.
  • Flexible, pro-active, and open-minded work approach: the ability to work productively both independently and within the team.
  • Demonstrated report and proposal-writing skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally 30% of the time.

Salary

Selected candidate may be offered a competitive salary. Kindly note that salary is not a constraint for excellent candidate and shall commensurate with qualification, experience and skills.
